It's ALLLIIIVVVE   Posted Tue Oct 14, 03   9:19 AM

jag is gone. got it fired up and running in the middle of the night last night. sounds wicked. a little too burly for what i was attempting to accomplish, but that's ok. my cousin came this morning to pick it up.

the throttle and throttle valve cables need adjustment, as well as a major need for a functional throttle return spring. there are a few very slight seeping fuel leaks and a minor leak at the oil pan. the fuel pump wiring needs work (ie it's hooked up with a big 15A switchable circuit breaker) other than that everything seems to be great.

it sounds a lot like a hopped up camaro with big exhaust. not what i was aiming for, so i may ditch the x pipe and swap in an h pipe, but who knows. i have a feeling that this exhaust is going to sound like satan on the freeway.

until next time...

Rockin man. I LOVE when people get out of the lane for a car because it sounds like it's going to eat them if they don't.

You probably miss it though, huh?

i'm giving it away to my father who is putting six coats of british racing green and black pearl on it, then sending it back.

i wouldn't have sent it off to him half assed if there wasn't a reason...the equivalent of $12,000 worth of body work and paint was a good motivator.

we're going to shave the side marker lights off of it, perhaps the door handles as well, and welding over the troughs cut into the underside of the tail of the car. those troughs were used for allowing the rear mufflers to stick out from under the car a little. probably looked ok when they were shiney.

the real value is that this car has about 15 little dings and dents on it. they'll all be gone in a couple of days worth of work with the shrinker/nailwelder.

Thats great Jason, got a vid or sound bite? I just got my exhaust in on the 454 and it has a X pipe with 2 chamber flowmasters and 3" pipe. Mine was real annoying at lower RPM (1800-2000) and I thought it would be worse on the freeway but it is actually quiter than my old dual system with no crossover. How was yours once on the freeway?

man i'd know if it wasn't stuck in the paint shop. i've driven it about 120 feet. the trunk and roof both need a lot of body work, have to be taken all the way down to bare metal because of some pitting in the paint. shitty. anyway, i don't care. it'll be fuckin sweet when i get it back and i've got plenty to do on the coupe. it's down to bare metal aside from two panels - driver door and driver rear fender.

i'll bet this exhaust will sound good on the freeway. that's what i meant by what i wrote earlier. i can't imagine what 3rd gear under load (2.88 gears) at 80mph and then flooring it is going to be like. should be a real growler.
