No, but I love drifting. Will see if there is any info on imdb.com
It's 106 miles to Chicago, we've got a full tank of gas, a half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

Okay, here goes: Shaun Boswell, who has always been an outsider. A loner at school, his only connection to the indifferent world around him is through illegal street racing -- which has made him particularly unpopular with the local authorities. To avoid jail time, Shaun is sent out of the country to live with his uncle in the military, in a cramped apartment in a low-rent section of Tokyo. In the land that gave birth to the majority of modified racers on the road, the simple street race has been replaced by the ultimate pedal-to-the-metal, gravity-defying automotive challenge ... drift racing, a deadly combination of brutal speed on heart stopping courses of hairpin turns and switchbacks. For his first unsuccessful foray in drift racing, Shaun unknowingly takes on D.K., the "Drift King," with ties to the Yakuza, the Japanese crime machine. The only way he can pay off the debt of his loss is to venture into the deadly realm of the Tokyo underworld, where the stakes are life and death. The only "names" in the film are the oldest kid from Home Improvement, Bow Wow (the "rapper"), and the lead who was apparently in Friday Night Lights and some other movies even though I've never heard of him or seen his face before.

i hate to say this but i saw some photos of one of the cars used in making of this movie, it was a 67ish mustang fastback, with get this, a skyline engine in it and a fart can out the back, and the cars role in the movie must not be to great because it had dents all over the body, so cruel

It sounds like it'll likely be straight to video, just by looking at the cast list and the fact that even though it's set in TOKYO and is supposed to involve the YAKUZA all the main people are white pretty boys. I say avoid it like the plague (and I love drifting, it's what I want to end up doing with my MR2 eventually).

On a related note, did anybody follow the somewhat convoluted Formula D the last season? They made it a little to complicated in my opinion.

There was a funny video I saw a while back that had this guy who was playing a racing game where he was drifting, then he went out and tried the same thing in his miata and hit the guard rail. I just about fell over laughing. I just hope no one who doesn't deserve to get hurt gets hurt.

Then you read the article and find out that it's all a bunch of ricers who try to drift their FWD cars by using the e-brake. I'd love to see that shit. I bet that idiot in the mazda I raced would start trying it too, and maybe he'd drive that abomination off the damned Dinah Shore bridge.
