Does anybody know what the hell that means? I just got that title because I have managed to spew more than 1000 posts worth of "stuff", and all the earlier titles made sense (since they all were related to racing in some way) but I have no idea what Black Sunshine is all about.
It's 106 miles to Chicago, we've got a full tank of gas, a half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.
(gripping the wheel his knuckles went white with desire
The wheels of his mustang exploding on the highway like a slug from a .45
True death: 400 horsepower of maximum performance piercing the night
This is black sunshine.)
Yeah! move me in the silence baltic motorway
Hang me on the edge before I fall away
Apocalypse is dawnin’ action on the mile
A ’can-do’ revolution, earth to the river [nile]
Sweet’n the ride black sunshine
Sweet’n the ride, yeah!
Sweet’n the ride black sunshine
Sweet’n the ride, yeah!
Cry a river ’cosmic’, moon in scorpio
Feel her body ’breathe’, acid radio
Tell me that you like it, when I’m going down!
Tell me that you like it, move to the speed of [sound]
Sweet’n the ride black sunshine
Sweet’n the ride, yeah!
Sweet’n the ride black sunshine
Sweet’n the ride, yeah!
Go! slide into, I said ’44’ cool heart can
A hypnotize dream into infinity, I turned the love to lies
Crawl across the water, wave and sink into the sea
Reflect’n onto everything, that you can never be
’check-out!’, yeah!
To the devil a daughter comes 200 worlds away, yeah
Born to lose the love you choose, destroy another day
Check out!!
Sweet’n the ride black sunshine
Sweet’n the ride, yeah!
Sweet’n the ride black sunshine
Sweet’n the ride
Stare into the t.v. kiss off the pain
Wonderland is falling, no sing, no rain momentary
Damage into the high drift me to the circuit sky
(finally nothing moves. high noon.
Black top rolling below the asphalt drive
A concrete fascination scraping the edge of nothing
This is black sunshine.)
Okay, thanks. I would have preferred something from Thunderkiss 65 (think that was the name of it) or his song about A Clockwork Orange, but at least now I understand it.

See, it's that Ultra life thing I have a problem with. The opening, sung, lyrics are a reference to A Clockwork Orange (the Durango 95 is the car that the main hero, Alex, uses to take his droogs and himself to Home, a cabin in the middle of nowhere, where they perform Ultra Violence), now it sounds to me like the actual words he sings are a Ultra Violence (like the book) rather than Ultra Life (or Ultra Live as it was written where I looked up the song title). And I would be willing to bet that he meant horrorshow (it's how it is written in the book) which is a "britishization" of the Russian horasho, meaning good or great (suddenly inheriting a 1967 Shelby GT500 would be, in the vernacular of the book, horrorshow). I know I'm going on way too long with this, but that book is one of my favorites (and the movie version isn't too bad, even though they leave out the end of the story).

We've been goin', I'v never been at ease
I met a gyspie girl and took her on the track
The kinda girl walk
The driver don't talk
20 bucks between them just to keep them alive
Drivin'
Drivin'
Drivin'
Blacktop rollin'
Were goin', goin' to Amrillo
A zero to a sixty, in a 7.5
A model and a bagel steels California
A glass of a beer, a scot of a rat
Come on!
Drivin'
Come on!
Drivin'
Come on!
Drivin'
Come on!
Drivin'
Come on!
Drivin'
Come on!
Drivin'
Blacktop rollin'
Come on baby, I ain't crazy
Come on baby, pick me up, pick me up!
Come on baby, do me baby
Come on baby, hook it up, hook it up!
Come on!
Come on!
Come on!
Come on!
Drivin'
Come on!
Drivin'
Come on!
Drivin'
Blacktop rollin'
Where ya goin', an airport road
A clean machine, a real home girl
Baracuda, '68
Nothing there, she can wait
Come on!
Drivin'
Come on!
Drivin'
Come on!
Drivin'
Come on!
Drivin'
Come on!
Drivin'
Come on!
Drivin'
Blacktop rollin'
Come on baby, I ain't crazy
Come on baby, pick me up, pick me up!
Come on baby, do me baby
