Yeah, but the AWD makes it sooooo much faster Plus, most people could care less about a 1st gen, they just think 2nd gens are fast due to the fast and the furious car

that is kewl as hell! That guy is actually smart. He didn't worry about body kits, neon, bigass sound system, but instead worked under the hood. may look like shit, but it's still a sweet ass ride

1st gens are cheaper, have more potental and easier to find than 2nd... although they are BUTT UGLY in comparison. Honestly I'd rather have a 97-99 eclipse GSX to any of the others because I dispise how the rest of them look. The 1st gens may be able to haul more ass for less money but I already own one ugly, but fast car.... It'd be nice to have an attractive but pretty fast buddy for it.

It's basically the same engine. The differences between the two is the 1st gen has larger intake and exhaust ports, and a slightly more robust bottom end, plus some 2nd gen engines have been known to expariance crank walk...

what's crank walk? and what affects an engine to make that happen? i've heard the term before but it's about as sensical as 'spark scatter'

Some second gen DSM's have known to experiance thrust bearing failure which results in crank walk, which then leads to weakening of main and rod bearings.
This is how SCC explained the problem...
