If you look around for a bit you can get a big engined car for smaller insurance prices than you'd expect.

The insurance on my car is pretty low 'cos it is classed as a family car. Mine's 1.8 with a turbo and i was quoted half the price of the insurance on my 1 litre mini!?!

But a 1.8 is a nice stable platform to build up on. i think i could start with that and learn about cars from it, slowly adding bolt ons and then moving on to bigger and better things.

Yeah, but the insurance companies consider the integra a 'hot' car and the mondeo just a simple family saloon. So even if they were both exactly the same enginewise, the integra would still be more to insure.

Actually, the Integra is broken down to insurance companies. Its considered a hot car if tis GsR or Type R, then again, tahts cuz all the asians here in LA steal them for the engines on their crappy civics.

Dude, read a little more into this. He lives in the UK, i.e. different policies and laws. Plus, over there they get the better Hondas already equipped with the engines we swap in down here.
